This story is a real coming of age story. I like that it examines aspects of a "rebellious lifestyle" and why young men find themselves on a journey to self destruction. The story is written in a young black man's perspective as it follows him through a life in Buffalo, NY. It gives true life examples of people and the choices they made along the way and what influences lead to these choices. I think many young men and single mothers of young men could really benefit from this perspective. It was a good read that kept me wanting to know what connections that hip-hop and television and the internet have to influencing a young man to a life of crime or imprisonment. This is a book for all genders and all races it is an examination on our society as a whole. ENJOY

Tug of Conflict Darnell R Mckinnon 9780578022680 Books Reviews
"Tug of Conflict" shows the 'conflicts' of life that we all face as youngsters and adults. Author, Darnell McKinnon, describes to a tee what I believe to be the inner conflicts of all. This is a definite must read for those interested in learning how the 'conflicts' in our lives affect us as well as the 'tug of conflict' that we deal with every day. I found it to be educational in and of itself to help me understand troubles I have had.
